Facettas is an Apple iPhone application that facilitates the process of employee performance evaluations.  Regardless of the frequency with which your organization’s policy requires performance evaluations, they are critical to the success of the business.  They are an integral part of employee satisfaction, motivation, and performance management as well as organizational and career planning.  Facettas can also be used during the interview and hiring process.  Candidates can be evaluated against the same criteria and a relative score obtained to aid the employer during the interviews.

Profiling Positions

Profiling a position allows you to ensure the appropriate behaviors are being used to gauge an employee’s performance or candidate’s qualifications. The application includes a set of common performance facets (16) that are regularly used in business settings.  These common facets cannot be deleted.  They are:

Scroll through the list of facets and select the ones that are relevant to the position being profiled by touching the facet title.  After selecting the facet (the facet’s background will turn blue), define how important the facet is for the selected position by moving the slider to the appropriate place.  For example, for an engineer a high level of technical expertise may be required (90 -100) while an administrative assistant may require a lower importance setting (0 – 10).  If the facet is not relevant to the position being profiled at all, leave that facet’s importance at zero.  If you can’t get the desired value with the slider, use the stepper button (-, +) to fine-tune the importance setting.  Once all relevant facets’ importance settings have been defined, touch the “Done” button at the top of the screen.  That position is now ready to be used for evaluating employees or candidates.

To view the facets for any position, touch the detailed disclosure button at the right of the position title.  This will show the list of common facets followed by the list of custom facets if some have been previously created.  Initially there will be no custom facets so the app displays “No Custom Facets Defined” following the list of common facets.
